Graphic design in Spanish-speaking countries (2020–2025): Literature trend review

| その他の書誌記述: | This article presents a qualitative literature review on graphic design in Spanish-speaking countries, focused on the period from 2020 to the first half of 2025. The main objective is to qualitatively analyze Spanish-language academic articles on graphic design published between 2020 and the first semester of 2025 in indexed journals from Spanish-speaking countries, with an emphasis on thematic trends, methodological approaches, and transformations in design education and practice derived from the pandemic. The methodology employed corresponds to a non-systematic bibliographic review, based on the selection and interpretation of academic articles, theses, and specialized documents published in scientific databases and repositories. The analytical sample was limited to publications in Spanish that include the descriptors: artificial intelligence, methodologies, education, and design. As theoretical grounding, the study draws on Frayling’s (1993) contributions regarding types of research in design, along with methodological guidelines for literature reviews (Kitchenham, 2007; Okoli, 2015). The main results indicate an increase in studies on emerging technologies applied to graphic design, the consolidation of hybrid and critical pedagogical approaches in higher education, and the incorporation of interdisciplinary methodological frameworks that strengthen the connection between design and current social and technological issues. Overall, this analysis contributes to mapping the state of recent research in graphic design within the Spanish-speaking context and to highlighting knowledge gaps in underexplored regional contexts. |
