Beschreibung:The present paper is an attempt to identify the deductivism legacy (deep-rooted in The Vienna Circle and in Karl Popper´s thought) in the methodology of economics science. With this target in mind, a brief summary of the empirism and the inductivist method is presented, to scrutinize later the contribution of the logical positivism and the critical rationalism. Subsequently, the main critiques to those approaches are reviewed and a meticulous analysis of the function of theoretical models in economics science is embraced; to finally conclude with some reflections on the development of econometrics as a method of empirical contrastation. In this last section, special attention is posed on the contribution of the Cowles Comission.
