Popis:In contrast with visible aging of the face, oral aging is slower and less visible. It exhibits both physiological and pathological changes. Teeth are not lost during the aging process but they can present wear; attrition, abrasion and erosion. Teeth are also exposed to caries and gum disease. Other oral changes associated with aging include: mild bone reabsorption around teeth, disease in lasting capabilities, dryness in the mouth, tongue and oral mucosa changes and masticatory and swallowing problems. In order to manage oral aging factors adequately, it is important to maintain a correct oral hygiene, periodic dental visits and good general health.
