Description:The experimentwas conducted at the Experimental Station “Alfredo VolioMata” of the University of Costa Rica during the rainy season(May to November) of 2004, with the purpose of obtainingcomparative nutritional parameters of fifteen lines of foragesorghum. The materials used were 13 lines of Sorghumbicolor supplied by the International Center for TropicalAgriculture (CIAT), and 2 lines of Sorghum almum. Yieldproduction, bromatologic composition and ruminaldegradability of these lines were measured. The followingresults were obtained: CIAT 638 showed the highest drymater production but the lowest crude protein levels; thematerials CIAT 613 and CIAT 645 showed the highestdegradation rate, while the lines ATENAS, CIAT 897, CIAT638 y UCR-EEAVM showed the highest crude protein levelsand good digestibility of the dry matter.
