| Disgrifiad: | This work summarizes the geoscientific work undertaken by Japanese geoscientists –in Volcanology and Seismology– during the 1960s and 1970s in Costa Rica. They made several pioneering contributions at that time. It coincides with the epoch when the local scientific community lacked wide experience to confront the volcanological and seismological problems it was facing to. Part of the experience obtained through their influence notably helped to a rapid development of research centers, which later eased their insertion to the international geoscientific community. |
