Description:This article analyzes the perceptions of Social Studies and Civic Education teachers regarding the continuing education project Enseñarnos: de profe a profe, promoted by the University of Costa Rica in order to assess its contributions and limitations to professional development. Based on a critical view of teachers as transformative agents, a mixed-methods questionnaire was administered to 127 participants. Results showed a high appreciation for the training program, highlighting the quality of its content, materials, and facilitators, as well as the horizontal relationship between academic knowledge and teaching experience. Main limitations identified include work overload, lack of incentives, and weak institutional support. The study concludes that strengthening such initiatives is key to improving educational quality. It also recommends the consolidation of sustainable training pathways and further research into the role of teachers as key actors in educational and social transformation.
