Popis:This work includes, in the first place, a brief description of the initial struggle of Costa Rican women towards achieving their right to be considered citizens. After those efforts, women freed themselves from their condition of representative dependency and assumed self-representative citizenship. Secondly, the work mentions the international documents on women’s human rights that served as a foundation to national legislation in the subject of women. There is also reference to the civil and voting juridical framework that has given to women the position of active subjects inside the exercise of human rights in the last six decades, a fact that has allowed their entrance and participation in the development of the country project. Finally, there is reference to the economic and political performance of women in today’s Costa Rican society.
