| Kuvaus: | This article conveys a study of the theory of the Self and the Other in the context of Éxodo X, a short story by colombian writer Luis Carlos Barragán. The story deals with a worldwide situation in which some people go through an unexplained process of metamorphosis that makes them change their race, gender, social class, nationality, and in some cases, even the species they used to be. By using philosophical theory of the likes of Gabriel Marcel, Emanuel Levinas and Nelson Maldonado-Torres, among others, this article proposes that Éxodo X is able to create a plot able to completly combines a simultaneous state of Self-Other in the body of the main character. By achieving this, the short story offers the reader a mental experiment breaking the barriers of Self and Other in terms of coliding two different personalites, beings from the first and third world, who suffer as a single entity the racial, cultural and ideological friction that separate these coliding ends of the human spectrum. |
