Descrição:While human trafficking is a widespread phenomenon that impacts thousands of victims and has been on the rise over time, it has not been adequately addressed by States to combat and eradicate it. With this in mind, this article aims to bring attention to the pervasive culture of impunity surrounding human trafficking in our region and emphasize the importance of developing international standards from a human rights perspective. In this context, some factors are proposed to be considered in creating these, guided by the importance of regional international bodies encouraging States to make tangible efforts to combat this phenomenon by raising awareness and protecting the dignity and rights of victims of this crime.
