International trade disruptions, logistics supply of fertilizers, and their implications to the value chain of Costa Rican Coffee: 2021–2025

Popis:The research is contextualized by international trade disruptions throughout 2021-2025 period. By a mixed exploratory-sequential focus methodology, it is analyzed the incidence of supply dynamics on the nitrogen, phosphate and potassium fertilizers, thereby the impact on its value chain of Costa Rican coffee. Therefore, the approach to collateral results of these eventualities such as COVID-19 effects, the Russia-Ukraine war and a fluctuation of prices on international trade freights with registered oscillations of more than a 100%; with it the volatility in costs related to the coffee productive linkage and its main challenges. Consequently, as main conclusion the constant challenge the supply of fertilizers represents to the coffee sector as long as most of its dynamics are matter of importation deepening on the opportunity to enable the reduction of vulnerabilities by administrative recommendations, also of capacity, added value and traceability to the industry.
