Description:This essay is presented as an exercise in critical analysis between cyberpunk aesthetics and the concept of necropolitics developed by the Cameroonian philosopher Achille Mbembe. It is based on the hypothesis that the cyberpunk subgenre, when representing extreme sociopolitical scenarios, offers a vision of necropolitics as the ultimate expression of sove- reign power. From this perspective, the science ction lm District 9 (2009) by the South African lmmaker Neill Blomkamp will be analyzed, determining the ways in which both concepts are interwoven in this production, as well as their ethical-political implications.
