Implications of Literary Reading for Educational Work in Human Rights: Reflections and Possibilities Based on the Works of Todd Parr

| Περιγραφή: | Human rights education is essential for consolidating a culture of respect, promotion, and defense of human rights in various social spaces. Among other educational proposals, literary reading is seen as a source of humanization for individuals. In this context, the following question arises: how can literary reading contribute to educational work in human rights, and consequently, whatimplications do Todd Parr’s children’s literature have for consolidating a human rights culture in schools? The objective of this research is to understand the implications of literary reading for human rights education and the reader’s human development, using Todd Parr’s children’s literature as a premise. The methodological approach adopted was a bibliographic and documentary review with qualitative data analysis. The final conclusions highlight that literature can contribute to the promotion of humanrights education because, on the one hand, it serves as a tool for uncovering the reader’s reality, often marked by rights violations, and on the other hand, literature constitutes a human right. In this sense, the relevance of Todd Parr’s works is emphasized, as they, with their language and aesthetics, contribute to the reflection and discussion among teachers and children on respect for differences, environmental preservation, human rights, and the pursuit of peace. |
