实物特征:Objective: To explore in depth university students’ perceptions of gender stereotypes and inequality in academic spaces. Methodology: This qualitative study develops a theoretical and conceptual framework on gender stereotypes and inequality in the university context, which is contrasted with the application of focus groups with students from a public university in 2024. Results: There is evidence of a prevalence of stereotypes and inequalities, reflected in a lack of knowledge about institutional protocols and in the presence of perceptions related to insecurity, violence, and gender inequality. These stereotypes remain deeply rooted in the discourse of the participating group, that tend to reproduce and validate sexist relationship models in the responses and assign them differently to men and women, regardless of sociodemographic factors such as age or sex. However, through discussion and joint reflection, the students also manage to identify common elements that structure gender inequality. Emerging stereotypes were determined that reflect significant changes in traditional beliefs, particularly in relation to female stereotypes. These social and cultural transformations not only challenge entrenched beliefs but also generate new ways of understanding female identity. Conclusions: Although some findings reflect progress toward equality, traditional stereotypical characteristics persist that contribute to perpetuate discrimination. The study highlights the importance of promoting collective analysis and individual reflection in academic spaces to address this issue by encouraging debate. It is recommended that gender mainstreaming be incorporated as a pedagogical strategy so that discussions and reflections include equitable and diverse perspectives.
