Omschrijving:The first Meteorological Service in Costa Rica was created on April 7th 1888 by Mauro Fernandez, while the government of Bernardo Soto; and it was part of the Physic’s Geographic National Institute. Its first director was the Swiss scientist, doctor in Sciences, Henri Pittier, during 16 years (1888-1904). Its first location was the Liceo of Costa Rica that was founded one year earlier; doctor Pittier was professor at the same institution. He made his firsts observations of rainfall and temperature in San Jose, and he also studied the conditions of the country’s climate.
