Description:The article explores the changes that have been generated within the coffee farming practices in the wake of environmental degrada-tion caused by the implementation of an intensive coffee farming, tech and expansion that took place during the second half of the twentieth century in the canton of Tarrazú. In this process, it is necessary to highlight the role played institutions, both public and private, in promoting a more sustainable coffee farming with the environment.
