תיאור:After 20 years of training geographers, by the end of the 1990s, the School of Geographic Sciences found in action research a field of education and work. This approach was guided by Jean Labasse’s concept of spatial organization and the approval of two laws: the Urban Planning Law of 1968 and the Organic Environmental Law 7554 of 1995, which introduced the concept of land-use planning for the first time. A dual decision by the School of Geographic Sciences facilitated the reorientation of the geography curriculum, initially established in 1973, and directed the work of a group of researchers towards applying geography to urban planning and land-use management in local governments.
