Psychological Characteristics of University Teaching Staff: From the Students’ Perspective

| Descripció: | Objective. The study aims to present students’ perceptions of certain psychological characteristics of university teaching staff and to compare them with the staff’s own self-perceptions. Method. A quantitative approach with a descriptive-comparative design was used. A survey was administered to a sample of 452 people, including both professors and students, to collect data on these characteristics. The survey had a Cronbach’s alpha reliability of 0.886. Conclusions. The study concludes that there are differences in perception regarding characteristics such as vocation, democratic, selfless, honest, fair, objective, participative, paternalistic, proactive, self-critical, punctual, enthusiastic, facilitative, and providing feedback. However, students agree on characteristics such as creating a climate of trust, good character, humaneness, respect, and empathy. This indicates that students generally perceive university professors as good. |
