Popis:The group Calle 13 enjoys world-wide success, and has used its influence to further social and political justice themes through their lyrics and fusion of musical genres. This article establishes the socioeconomic context from which Calle 13’s voice, particularly their poetry, originates. Through a literary analysis encompassing songs from each stage of the band’s discography, the article explores the unique elements that enabled Calle 13 to transcend their roots and be well-received beyond Latin America. The investigation concludes that Calle 13 achieves a successful and credible revolutionary art with introspective and at times inconsistent verses that avoid becoming monolithic propaganda, offering the audience a permeable, accessible message.
