Description:This essay describes the ways in which the sense of reality is constructed through information technology and artificial intelligence, with the aim of problematizing university teaching. These technologies shape common sense using specific signifiers: (1) individual freedom coexisting with the watchful algorithm; (2) authenticity, alongside the algorithm that encourages uniform consumption; (3) civility, by constructing the illusion of modernity; and (4) truth since what technologies report is deemed “unquestionable.” These elements build the intersubjective sense of reality—components with which teaching must critically engage in order to shape social profiles.
