Description:One of the main business cards of the Teaching of Social Studies is the lack of consensus and delimitation in its field of research and the study problems that are specific to it. With this in mind, the objective of this research is to build a state of the research based on the final graduation projects in the Bachelor’s degree in Teaching of Social Studies and Civic Education, from the University of Costa Rica, defended between 2000 and 2019, to show the gaps, limitations, scope and research challenges. Methodologically, the inductive content analysis and the implementation of a state of the art for documentary analysis were implemented. Among other elements, the research concludes that for the period under study, the research opts to delve into how to teach through a psychopedagogical theory, a specific school curricular theme, generating the construction of didactic-methodological mediation strategies for the classroom.
