Presence of Munidopsis bermudezi in the Colombian Caribbean Sea (Crustacea: Anomura: Munidopsidae)

| Omschrijving: | Specimens of Munidopsis bermudezi Chace, 1939, were collected during the Project entitled “Environmental characterization in the area of interest within the Guajira Offshore # 3, Colombian Caribbean block”. This is the first record of this species in the Colombian Caribbean Sea. This is the 46th species of the superfamily Galatheoidea registered for this region. This species is close to Munidopsis teretis Baba, 2005, which occurs in the Tasman Sea. The former differs from the latter by the presence of a pair of conspicuous gastric spines, the absence of an acute process in the branchial region and the absence of a carina on the posterior half of the carapace. A detailed description of this species and information on its habitat are presented in this paper. |
