Описание:The biography Frank H. Wadsworth: Pioneer in Caribbean Forest Conservation, written by Ariel E. Lugo, chronicles the life and legacy of one of the leading architects of tropical forestry in the Caribbean. Frank H. Wadsworth (1915–2022) dedicated more than sixty years to the United States Forest Service, primarily in Puerto Rico, where he made decisive contributions to reversing forest degradation and establishing the scientific foundations for the sustainable management of tropical forests. Trained as a forester at the University of Michigan, Wadsworth arrived in Puerto Rico in 1942, amidst severe deforestation. From there, he promoted an innovative approach that integrated long-term research, conservation, restoration, and forest management, demonstrating that these concepts are not opposed but complementary. As leader of the International Institute of Tropical Forestry, he fostered professional development, international cooperation, and advocacy in environmental public policy. His ethics, humility, and dedication to service solidify his legacy as a scientific and moral benchmark for forest conservation in the Caribbean.
