| Descrizione: | This research aims to explore the objectives of Denominations of Origin in Latin America from a multidisciplinary perspective. The approach is qualitative and exploratory, with data collected from primary and secondary sources. Method: A bibliographic review on the topic was conducted; the presentations of 19 specialists from 10 countries were systematized; and an online questionnaire was applied to 296 people from 14 countries, representing a purposive, non-probabilistic sample. The results highlight three primary objectives of Denominations of Origin through multidisciplinary narratives: first, to promote rural development by enhancing local resources and improving the image of the territory; second, to guarantee the origin of products and build consumer trust; and finally, to ensure exclusivity in the use of the product’s name for producers within the defined territory, in order to protect it from fraudulent uses. The study sets a precedent by integrating the perceptions of various countries regarding the objectives of denominations of origin in Latin America, highlighting key common aspects despite contextual differences. |
