Descripció:The commemoration of the bicentennial of Central American independence leads to reflect on what history to teach, taking as points of interest the historiography of independence and the conditions of the teaching-learning of history. This article presents some ideas about the state of Honduran historiography in relation to this historical fact, visualizing possible challenges or thematic lines to be promoted. In addition, it addresses the challenges facing the teaching-learning of history given the constant debates and contributions that specialized literature and research have produced on this topic. In this sense, it is acknowledged that progress in the teaching-learning of history is linked to the initial and ongoing training of teachers, making possible a qualitative leap in their educational practices; likewise, the theoretical contributions made by historians on these topics that are part of the national curriculum will have a positive impact on the development of school history in Honduras.
