Development and evolution of university governance literature

Diğer Bilgiler:The government of universities and/or their governance constitutes an element of control of institutional decisions and the allocation of resources and therefore is a decisive actor for the management of public policies in higher education. However, research in this field is incipient. Given this, a scientometric analysis is carried out on the articles published in the Web of Science online database, between 1975 and 2023, with the objective of describing the bibliometric indicators of the scientific development of the research field on university governance, identifying authors, countries, publications, citations, journals, institutions and keywords, in a conclusive descriptive research with a longitudinal section and under a non-experimental bibliographic research design. The results showed a growing development, particularly in the last decade, about publications related to the topic of university governance, which demonstrates that there are potential lines of development for this increasingly strategic topic in the new context of higher education. Thus, the contribution of this study is to characterize the research associated with university governance
