Περιγραφή:he anniversary of the referendum for the CAFTA in Costa Rica is used to contribute, through evidence and elements of analysis, to the debate about links between the media and the elites that drive the neoliberal model, which are reflected in the existence of a private media model that is excluding ideologically, politically and economically. From the identification of resources of media manipulation such as fear, concealment and exclusion, some of the facts of the referendum are analyzed, as well as several cases from the recent past that show the prevalence of those links. The aim is to draw attention to the need to break the "de facto" privatization of the radio spectrum and promote the opening of citizen and community media, in order to strengthen democracy in the country.
