Miêu tả:Introduction: Structural forest connectivity in biological corridors defines degree to which landscape facilitates, or prevents, movement between resource patches. However, there is insufficient information on this subject for the Chirripó-Savegre area. Objective: To evaluate structural connectivity of the possible link route between priority conservation areas of the Chirripó-Savegre Premontane Biological Corridor, Costa Rica. Methods: We defined the protected wild areas to be connected; identified priority connection nodes or nuclei (forest patches); defined the obstacles (roads, villages and soils devoid of vegetation), estimated distance to water bodies protected by law; and modeled the connectivity route. Results: The structural connectivity route runs between the contour lines on 1,600 and 2,100 meters above sea level, with six intervention points (wildlife crossings, reforestation or natural regeneration). Conclusion: A structural connectivity route can be developed in the Chirripó-Savegre corridor.
