The species comes from Asia and could have been introduced associated with exotic plants. Basic aspects of histology are described, including the cellular structure of the main organs: heart, intestine, hepatopancreas, ovary, nerve cord, gill and oostegite. Adult females present massive formations of spongy connective tissue surrounding the digestive system and ovaries; oocytes are observed in different stages of vitellogenesis, producing few large oocytes.  KEY WORDSCrustacea, Amphipoda, Talitridae, Talitroides topitotum, histology
