Miêu tả:This article aims to describe the discriminatory manifestations toward indigenous peoples and other ethnic-cultural populations in Costa Rica. Data from the 2022 Current Affairs Survey were analyzed for this purpose. The results show a perception of mistreatment more frequently directed at indigenous Nicaraguan and Afro-descendant people. It is found that individuals, based on their self-identified ethnic-cultural background, perceive situations of discrimination against themselves and their relatives due to their phenotype, origin, cultural identity, language, socioeconomic status, and gender. The article confirms that belonging to a minority ethnic-cultural group in Costa Rica constitutes a vulnerability factor for discrimination and reveals associations between phenotypic conditions (facial features and skin color) of these groups and conditions of economic and educational exclusion. The findings highlight the need to include ethnic-cultural self-identification in social research in general and surveys in particular.
