Описание:In Costa Rica, in the 1970´s, 2500 people were involuntarily displaced from the communities of Tronadora, Arenal and other decentralized villages in the countryside in order to build the Arenal Hydroelectric megaproject. As it had a larger population, Arenal was of interest to this research, the results of which are presented in this article. Agroforestry restitution was investigated using secondary sources, and interviews were conducted with experts in the case. The analysis was qualitative with an exploratory and descriptive scope. Ninety-four percent of the population of Arenal opted for involuntary resettlement. One hundred percent of the resettled families (325) had space to replicate the home garden. They were provided with trees for various uses, and, over time, agroforestry recovered its functionality and embellished the landscape.
