Diğer Bilgiler:Introduction: The collision of wild birds against windows is a recurring problem in the buildings of the community of San Gerardo de Dota. Objective: To analyze the problem of the collision of wild birds against the windows of buildings in the community of San Gerardo de Dota. Methods: This problem was described from the direct observation of the infrastructure, identification of bird species and the quantification of the number of individuals that have suffered collisions with glass panels. The study was carried out from February to May 2018 at the Hotel Savegre, Hotel El Trogón, Hotel Sueños del Bosque, El Quetzal Research Center and a house, where officials, inhabitants, staff of these sites voluntarily sent their reports on birds. struck against windows, in the process data such as date, time and place of the incident were taken and sent along with a photograph of the bird to be able to be identified later. Results: A total of 13 reported families were recorded, 24 species and 40 individuals, among which are 9 endemic species of the region, 6 migratory species and 18 residents. An increase in collisions was observed as the area of glass in buildings increased. Conclusions: The most affected families were Trochilidae, Turdidae, Tyrannidae, Thraupidae and Passerellidae, species with decreasing populations were found, such as the quetzal (Pharomachrus mocinno) and the green toucan (Aulacorhynchus prasinus) and species with threatened populations such as the Aliazufrado parrot (Pyrrhura hoffmanii). The number of individuals striking against glass can pose a threat to stability in bird populations.
