Description:This essay examines key components of educational quality models with the aim of fostering reflection on the implications of repealing the Costa Rican Model for the Evaluation of Educational Quality (MECEC), which was in force from 2014 to 2023. The analysis suggests that eliminating the MECEC entails the loss of a contextualized framework specifically designed to respond to the country’s pedagogical, administrative, and sociocultural realities. The essay proposes alternatives that integrate both global and local indicators, while emphasizing the need to strengthen participatory processes that promote a culture of continuous improvement aligned with the principles of sustainable development.
