Miêu tả:This article is based on academic research in the field of Social Work, focusing on the case of Costa Rica, with the objective of determining the political, social, and economic dynamics embedded in the current situation of restrictive policies regarding human mobility across borders. It also proposes a discussion from the perspective of Social Work, recognizing the impact of geopolitical transformations and the doctrine of security in hindering the guarantee of human rights for populations on the move, often resulting in the criminalization of their border crossings. To achieve this, the article provides a contextualization of the conjunctural events that justify the changes in the actions of border police regarding the passage of migrant populations. Subsequently, an analysis of national security and its direct influence on ensuring access to human rights for migrant populations is conducted. In this way, the article identifies the impact of historical transformations in politics, reflected in the tightening of immigration policies, leading to the conclusion that this creates obstacles and shapes immigration policies to favor the needs of the capitalist system's market. Consequently, this directly affects the guarantee of rights for migrant individuals who, risking their own lives, must move away from their countries of origin.
