Popis:The paper comprises: a synopsis of the papers published on the entocommensal ciliates of the sea urchins, from Hoffman, 1871 to Berger, 1962 and the morphology and systematics of the ciliates found in Tripneustes ventricosus (Lamarck) from Enmedio Island near Veracruz, Mex. The species are: Cryptochilum bermudense Biggar & Wenrich, 1932; Cryptochilum echinometris Biggar & Wenrich, 1932; Anophrys elongata Biggar & Wenrich, 1932. Following Corliss, the classification of Kahl is discussed and the fact that the four species do not seem to be restricted to the area of the Gulf Stream, as two records exist from the Pacific coast.
