| Cur Síos: | This article analyzes different descriptive methods used in several articles that present social types seen in latinamerican literature of manners. The literary category known as 'social type' is defined as well as the role of the physiological discourse within its definition. Besides this article explores the ideological implications that contribute to the development of social types taking into account Western cultural practices seen at the beginning of the 19th Century. In addition, generic conventions of social types and finally some latinamerican articles from the 19th century are analyzed. |
