| Deskribapena: | In the Lobo Reservoir, Southern Brazil, the diatom Melosira italica represents 54% of the total phytoplankton. Through wind action M. italica is continuosly brought up from the bottom, which functions as an "inoculum" for the constant maintenance of the alga in the water column. This study shows that the wind is an environmental factor that must be considered in limnological studies of phytoplankton. |
