Deskribapena:The objective of this research was to analyze the impact of physical activity on the resilience and the quality of life of 25 older adult women (M = 71 ± 5.16 years). The Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale was used. It was adapted for older Costa Rican adults, along with the SF-36 quality of life questionnaire. In addition, observation and unstructured interviews were used.  The program ran once a week for 18 weeks. The results showed significant increases in total resilience, the variables of self-efficacy, and capacity for purpose and meaning in life. Regarding quality of life, there were significant improvements in emotional performance, general health, vitality and social function.  On the other hand, physical function and pain showed a trend towards improvement and the physical pain variable did not improve at all. Qualitatively, the participants highlighted physical activity, spirituality, meditation, social support, and education as protective factors in old age. To conclude, recreational physical activity and health issues are essential for healthy aging. Family, social and institutional support is recommended to enhance quality of life and strengthen internal resources to face the challenges of age.
