Description:The Fila Grisera is a mountain range that is part of the Fila Costeña located in the southern Pacific of Costa Rica. It is composed of a thick sedimentary sequence of middle Eocene - Oligocene age, which has been intruded predominantly by gabroic bodies of middle - late Miocene age. In this research we report the discovery of marbles with garnets as a result of the contact metamorphism due to the intrusion of the plutonic bodies into the bioclastic limestones outcropping, mostly in the southern flank of the range. The study comprises various mineralogical characterization techniques such as petrographic and chemical analysis, X-ray diffractometry and scanning electron microscopy.
