| Description: | This paper shows the etymology of the surnames of the residents of Juan Viñas (head of Jimenez, province of Cartago), subscribed in the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad telephone directory of 2005. Those surnames derived from place names (hydronyms and geonyms) outstand, because of the physical environment humans develop their activities throughout life. |
