Description:The popular demonstrations that started in Tunisia back in December 2010, had a tremendous impact both inside this country an in the Arab countries in North Africa and in the Middle East. It is important to keep in mind that these demonstrations were not new, but have been common during several decades. However, what we can new about these demonstration in the 21st. Century was that some of them have been successful in some countries such as in Tunisia, Egypt, Libia and Yemen, where the popular protests managed to put an end to those corrupt and repressive regimes. This paper analyses two of the most important causes of these protests: politics and repression.
