| الوصف: | This article reflects on the particularities of being women workers in cooperative organizations in the Western Region of Costa Rica. It analyzes empowering and limiting factors in women's experiences around two general categories: the gender roles still existing in the work spaces and the labor surcharge socially assigned to women; for this purpose, the physical and emotional consequences that these have on the personal and professional development of women workers are considered. Methodologically, a Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) is carried out based on semi-structured interviews with 28 women. Among the findings are reflections on the implications of being women in a historically male cooperative environment, and in which working conditions, on many occasions, do not comply with the minimum requirements of labor rights in the country. |
