Описание:This article is a result of a bibliographical analysis as the basis for the conceptual frame and guidelines proposed. It summarizes the challenges and dilemmas actually faced by the secondary school level in the world, and Latin American and the Caribbean as well, in the context of the socio, economical, political and cultural changes in which it takes place. The study states the need to approach the range of expectations existing around this educational level with an integral conceptual frame of reference including the different perspectives and approaches with which its problems have been faced. Finally, the study offers some orientations to face the most important challenges and demands in Costa Rican secondary education.
