Disgrifiad:The law of March 1, 1940, on repression of Freemasonry and Communism, in addition to jail and accessory penalty of disqualification, establishes the obligation to retract something that, at the time, was legal. Such a repressive modality had characteristics, implications and uses that give it its own identity within the framework of the abolition of freemasonry in Spain, therefore it is of interest that its fundamental aspects should be described. This paper is based on the study of the legal provisions as well as documents, statistics and personal records preserved at Documentary Center of Historical Memory (CDMH).
