| Beschreibung: | The goal of the present paper is to outline the first steps Archaeology took before becoming a scientific discipline. It will be proved that from the first civilizations that populated the Near East area, passing by several examples from the Americancivilizations till the nineteenth century, human beings have constantly been curious to discover their origins through material evidence. These remote antecedents will constitute the basis upon which the Archaeological science as we know it nowadays will be set. |
