الوصف:In Mytella guyanensis Lamarck, 1819, the frequency distributions for the length, breadth and height of the shell are assymetrical and essentially unimodal (same age group). The maximum class frequencies are: 50-59.9 mm for the length; 22.5-26.9 mm for the breadth and 15-17.9 mm for the height. The shell is allometric and the length is an adequate parameter. During the first twelve months, the shell shows an activegrowth with an average of 5.084 mm/mo; in the next eigth months increments are in the order of 1.048 mm/mo decreasing to 0.428 mm/mo in the last ten months. Approximately 95 % of the asyntotic length (L.) is reached within twenty months of age. By the fifth month Mytella guyanensis is more than 25 mm long; however all individuals are sexually inmature.
