Description:The article provides an overall picture of Central American anthropological research on the indigenous people of the area. After consulting several historical references, (particularly of specialized institutions and journals, as well as representative anthologies) the research carried out in the Central American countries, since the middle of the lastcentury, is characterized. The article is based on a survey of books and articles published in Central America and aims to contribute to a better knowledge of Central American anthropologies.
