Description:The general objective of this article is to analyze the figure of María Isabel Carvajal, known as Carmen Lyra, a Costa Rican writer, from her experience as a militant of leftist groups. To this end, the social, political, economic, and cultural context in which Lyra developed her literary and political praxis about the social struggles in which she was incorporated is described. Secondly, the posthumous recognitions given to this Costa Rican are studied. Finally, the main conclusions obtained from the concatenated analysis are provided.
