Self presentation and management of gender identity change in a young middle-class girl

| Deskribapena: | This article describes the management of a sex-gender change executed by a transsexual in Buenos Aires. The data was collected through depth interviews, observations and informal conversations in everyday life situations. The analysis focuses on the self presentation and the management of impressions produced on other people, from the dramaturgical approach of Erving Goffman. The main results show two sides on femininity: as a natural state she has always had, and as a permanent achievement through working on countless details of her body and behavior. |
