Descrizione:Over the years, aquaculture has become increasingly important due to the contribution of protein that its products provide in human food; however, the shrimp industry has been affected by different infections that impact the growth and development of shrimp and the consumption of these organisms. The objective of this article is to review the effects of the pathogenic bacterium Vibrio parahaemolyticus on farmed shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei), since it has caused great economic losses worldwide due to acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease. In addition, the impact that ingesting marine animals contaminated with this bacterium can have on human beings was covered.
