| Deskribapena: | The validation of the improved cultivars EAP-9510-77 and SRC-1-12-1 (of meso-american origin),comparing them to the local control Rojo Chiricano (MD-3075) on 500 m2 plots in five localities of the province ofChiriqui, Panama¸ during the period from October 2001andFebruary 2002. The average yield of the variety EAP-9510-77 was 2518 kg/ha, over-yielding the SRC-1-12-1 and thecontrol by 12%. The farmers preferred the line EAP-9510-77for its yield, growth habit and grain color. Its varietaldescription, inscription at the CNS (National SeedCommission) and its release is recommended. |
